Public report data extraction benchmark

Eight values from a published Australian Department of Finance report checked against the Department’s official workbook.

This CSV is a public, precomputed demonstration output. CSV exports from your own extraction jobs still require active paid access.

Purpose

Demonstrate a transparent verification method for public-report extraction: identify a fixed table slice, capture values from the PDF, and compare them with an official structured companion source.

Input

Table 1 from the 2024-25 Net Zero in Government Operations Annual Progress Report, checked against cells in the official companion workbook.

Benchmark result

8 of 8 sampled rows matched the official workbook

Exact integer equality after removing display thousands separators; not a model-accuracy score.

Field definitions

Methodology

  1. 1. Fix the benchmark to eight numeric rows from Table 1 before comparison.
  2. 2. Read the metric, value, and unit from the official PDF without re-hosting the report.
  3. 3. Normalize thousands separators only; do not round, infer, or convert units.
  4. 4. Compare each integer with the named cell on the official workbook’s Table 1 sheet.
  5. 5. Publish the derived CSV with the PDF page, printed page, workbook sheet, cell, and match outcome.

Limitations

  • • This is a deliberately small table slice, not a representative accuracy score for the full 66-page report.
  • • The method checks transcription consistency against a companion workbook; it does not measure model accuracy.
  • • The 2024-25 data had not yet undergone the amendment process described in the report.
  • • The source publisher may update the official files. The review date identifies the version checked here.
